Fall Has Arrived

Today I put on a sweater and had my first cup of hot chocolate of the season. (Camping doesn't count) The weather sure makes it feel like Fall is among us. I am getting so excited for the things this season brings- pumpkin patches, leaves changing colors, Halloween and Thanksgiving. I also can't wait to wear my winter clothes- it's been 2 years since I wore them since I had my pregnancy wardrobe last winter.

Long and Lean

I have been needing to blog for days now about Everett's doctor's appointment and 4 month check up. He is doing very well. His acid reflux is all but gone, so he is much happier! He is still dealing with some yucky skin issues, but like his dad he might have that his whole life. He is growing so good. He weighted 14 pounds exactly and is 26.5" long. His weight is somewhat low- on his growth chart so the doctor wants to keep an eye on that. He only gained 2 pounds from his last visit, and if he doesn't get back on the growth chart in a month then we might have to start him on food earlier than I would like. I just keep thinking he has more Hatch gene in him than Stanworth, so tall and thin is ok with me. Just look at all 3 of my brothers. :-) Everett still continues to get so much attention from his older brothers. Jamison just can't keep his hands off him. Yesterday he so kindly picked Everett up from off the couch to put him on the floor so he could play with him. So scary for me!!Everett has found his toes and enjoys laying on his back and grabbing at them. He laughs and talks to us all the time, although Jamison can make him laugh the most. He smiles every time he sees me, which just brightens my mood. Jamey said that he rolled over already, but I didn't see it so I don't think it counts. :-) He drools non stop, and wants his hands in his mouth, but we are constantly putting the pacifier in instead. He's just growing so fast- almost 5 months old!! But we are loving every minute with him.

Labor Day Weekend Camping

I know that I have been really bad about blogging, but I have been even worse at reading blogs. It has been over 2 weeks since I have read anyone's blogs and I am so sorry. My hard drive died earlier in the month (the 3rd one in 4 weeks might I add, urggg) and I lost all of my blog addresses. Jamey recovered them all- we think- but I haven't taken the time to put them all back into my reader, so I am so sorry for not keeping up on you all!!

We went to Lake Granby and camped at a little campground 'Stillwater' this last weekend. On our way there we went through Rocky Mountain National Park and look what was just standing on the hill. It was amazing. He was bugling- the kids loved seeing this HUGE elk. It was so pretty every night to look up at the moon and see the reflection on the lake. We didn't do much besides hang out at camp, but it was sure relaxing and fun. The weather was mighty crazy, low 80's during the day and then cold 40's at night. Needless to say I did not pack well at all. We made it through and everyone slept well all 3 nights- even Everett!! We went with 2 other families and had a great time. We ate entirely way too much food, and laughed a lot.

For some reason Jamison could not stay out of the water, so he was wet and cold a lot of the weekend. We also couldn't keep track of him and he wondered off twice. Once he was at our friend's campsite trying to open any and every bag of candy he could find. The second time was way too scary for me- he had wondered off to the lake parking lot and was standing at the port-a-potty crying. It took us some time to find him and I was a panicked to say the least. We bought the boys some cheap fishing rods and one day the dad's took all the kids down to the lake and let them fish. Jamison just practiced casting and from what I was told Spencer lost interest rather fast too. Again all my boys wanted to do was play in the water and throw rocks. I can't really blame them- I don't find fishing much fun either. I think the fish were staying clear of the area the kids were in because of the rock throwing, so no one had any luck fishing. If Spencer had gotten a bite, I think he would have been there for a while really trying to catch something. So maybe next summer Spencer and Jamey will try again.

We each brought a craft for the kids to do during the day and this was the highlight for the older kids. We were bugged beyond belief about craft time. It kept them busy and they enjoyed every minute of making things.
On our way home on Monday we stopped and did a short little hike with the kids. They sure enjoy their walking sticks.

Now I have to finish all the laundry. It might take me some time to do that, but it was well worth the effort. Our boys love being outside and have come to really enjoy camping. Spencer said to me more than once- thanks for taking us camping mom. Then Jamison said once on the camping trip- I can't believe we're seriously camping. So darn cute!! Next summer should be lots of fun- Everett will be old enough to enjoy playing in the dirt too (or water).
