New Year's Resolution

I usually don't make any New Year's Resolutions, but this year I kind of did. I'd like to think of it more like a goal. I am not a very good journal writer, and so I have decided that I really need to be. After giving my grandmother's eulogy I learned that keeping a history is so important. I am starting out just writing once a week mostly about the boys. When they grow up I want for them to know what their childhood was like. A while back my friend Shelly put this link on her blog about LDS Journal. I kept the link but never did anything with it. Well I finally logged on and set everything up. It was really easy and I love that you can set up an email reminder. I keep thinking that the more I do it, then it will become a habit.

Practice

Our good friends the Briggs just adopted the most precious baby girl and so we went over tonight to let Jamey and the boys see her. I got a peek a couple of nights ago- and Jamey was just so excited to see baby Avery. She only weighted 5 lbs 12 ozs at birth. Since neither of our boys were even close to that small, Jamey needed to see a tiny baby- and a girl for that matter. :) Here are a couple of pictures of the boys with Avery getting some practice holding a new born.

Spencer held her twice- he was so cute looking at her.

Jamison just kept saying- 'cute baby' and 'I love her'

This is just video of Jamison talking to Avery- at one point he asks to 'take her'. Let's hope that these boys are getting used to the idea of a baby- ours will be here in no time!

Parties of December 2008

I have been needing to post about all the fun parties that we went to in December, so I figured this was a good way to do it. We started the month off with an Ugly Sweater party. Our friends had been talking about having one for a while, so when they actually set the date- we weren't going to miss it. Jamey and I had so much fun going to the thrift stores trying to find the ugliest sweater. I did win a prize too- the Tackiest Sweater. I beat Jamey by one vote. :) It was such a fun night of mingling and eating. Then we had a white elephant exchange, which was so funny. I love a good night with friends when you do nothing but laugh the whole night and you leave with your cheeks so sore. Thanks Liz and Scott!!!

The WINNERS
Just Torch it, Funniest, Holiday, Tackiest, Grandpa, 80's & Ugliest

The next night we had another party to attend- this one was titled "Las Vegas". So we were suppose to dress up anything like Vegas. Being that I am showing a bit we thought it would be totally funny to go as the shotgun wedding/ white trash couple. Again Jamey and I had so much fun thrift store shopping finding the perfect pieces to complete the outfit. Everyone came up with some great costumes. There was of course an Elvis- we had a younger one and the older one. Then there was CSI, the cougar and her boy, old gambling couple, gold digger, and the chip & dale dancer. We also spent the night eating and playing games with great friends. Thanks Anneke and Mark!!

The day after Christmas some friends hosted an 'After Christmas Bash'. We did a lot of eating again and had another white elephant exchange. Jamey opened the best prize- a cookie jar from a guy that used it when he was a kid. Man it is ugly- NEVER go for the biggest gift. For some reason I didn't take my camera, so we don't have any pictures of this party. It was another night of lots of laughter. Thanks Jolayne and Chris!!!

Then to celebrate New Year's some other friends had an 80's party. We started growing Jamey's hair about 3 months ago so he could have the perfect mullet. Well the back wasn't quite as long as we would have hoped for, but the effect turned out great. Who knew that leg warmers were back in style? I picked these up at Target of all places. It was so much fun pulling out the banana clip and poofing up the bangs as high as I could. Unfortunately we had to leave the party early because our little Spencer was throwing up. Rather than have a babysitter come to our house we had taken him to some friends. He threw up 3 times shortly after we got to the party, so we had to cut our New Year's short. We got home a little after 10:30pm. Jamey and I put the boys to bed and just hung out the two of us to celebrate the New Year. Thanks for the party Micaela and Ammon- sorry we had to duck out early!!

True to my promise though- after the boys were asleep we went downstairs and finished cutting Jamey's hair. Here is the before picture- trying to illustrate the mullet and then the after. Three months of longer and fuller hair, Jamey looks like he has had a serious haircut! So many people begged him to keep this haircut for church on Sunday- but I wouldn't even let him keep it for January 1, 2009! We hope everyone had a great holiday and wonderful New Years.

Here's to 2009!!
