We were able to talk Jamey into calling into work today to stay home with us. We spent a couple of hours this morning cleaning the house really good, then it was off to the pool. Oh man, did our boys have a great time.
Once we talked Spencer into trying the big slide, we couldn't get him off it. Then when it was time to go home he was really mad. Jamison fell asleep on the 5 minute drive home, he was so wiped out.
After Jamison woke up from his nap we took a walk over to the lake near our house and then Dairy Queen. It was a bit cold, but the boys were troopers. We took blankets and kept wrapping them to make sure they were warm enough. When we got home we sat down and watched a movie together, before bed. It was such a fun day. I'm not sure that we know what we are going to do the rest of the week, but this was a good start for the week.

Discipline and Punishments
Spencer was sent home yesterday with a note from his teacher. It read something like this: Spencer had a very bad day today. He punched (a boy) because he didn’t want to play with him. We restricted his activities and he did not receive a good day punch. Tomorrow is a new day, with no mistakes.
As a mom I all I could think was how do I punish him for this? I can’t spank him (or hit him back) that would only confuse him. He had already had his computer game privileges taken away, and the Nintendo would be put away for the next two days. I thought about telling him that the Easter Bunny wasn’t going to come, but I struggled with that. So what was left? After raising my voice (or as many of you know me- yelling) at him and telling him how disappointed I was for his behavior, all I could think to do was lock the play room and send him to his room to think about what he had done. Then I went to a Primary meeting last night and the member of the bishopric that spoke said something that I really need to learn. He said, have you ever disciplined and just felt the spirit drain out of you? Then he said, when you can discipline and still have the spirit with you, then you have done it the right way. As tears came to my eyes all I could think was, I knew I didn’t handle the letter from Spencer’s teacher the right way. I know that is why Spencer acts out- he wants our attention, but I need to learn how to give him positive attention. I tell him several times a day that I love him and try to point out all the good things he does in a day, but it was reconfirmed to me that I need to work harder on that. I really need to change my reactions with him and discipline and give punishments in a loving way.

My Assistant
I feel like I have said it a thousand times, but you’re going to hear it again. I have the best husband in the world!! It has been since November (way too long) since I have had my hair colored. It was looking very BAD. So last night I asked Jamey if he would come down and help me color my hair. He was very willing and boy does he follow directions well. I was so impressed how well we worked together. Of course it’s my personality to want to take over and do it myself (and I tried a couple of times) but it is so hard doing it yourself. You just can’t see, so I had to rely on him to be my eyes. It was quite the test for me as well; to just LET GO. So this morning after styling it I was very happy with the results. Jamey is AMAZING and I love him tons!! I don’t however see him signing up to be my permanent assistant, but it’s good to know that he could help me again in the future. (I wanted to take a picture of Jamey in the get-up, but by the time I thought about it we were covered in color. It was a very funny sight, so cute!)
